Golden Cap

Golden Cap is a hill and cliff located between Bridport and Charmouth. Standing at 191metres (627ft) it is the highest point on the south coast.

The name comes from the distinctive outcrop of gold greensand rock visible at the top of the cliff. The cliff is accessible via a footpath from Seatown. The walk to the top is quite challenging but the view from the top is very rewarding.

The cliff and the Golden Cap Estate is owned and managed by the National Trust. Visit the National Trust website for further details and suggested walks including a Smugglers’ trail for children.
